Expertise and practical experience
The MYR team has a range of skills and experiences reflecting the diverse nature of risk management and the breadth of our services. Our core competencies are effective communication, analysis and problem solving. Each team member specialises in one or more of MYR’s risk management disciplines.
Our team comprises the core team and specialist consultants who work on a project by project basis to provide greater depth of relevant expertise when required. The core team includes consultants and consultant support roles. MYR’s core consulting team includes:
John McVeigh is the founder and Managing Director of MYR. He is responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of MYR’s business strategy, creating new markets, developing clients and service improvement. John directs the development and oversees delivery of ERM and PSRM programs, aligns management systems, develops core processes and business objectives and profiles high level strategic and business risks.
With degrees in Law and Economics, John draws upon his extensive practical experience in business and risk consulting and as a lawyer. Prior to establishing MYR, John was a Director of JLT Risk Services heading risk management consulting and alternative risk financing teams. This role built on his experience with Allied Minet as an in-house lawyer, financial risks broker and manager of Minet Professional Services, Australia. John’s career began in law, with a six year tenure as a solicitor and senior associate with Phillips Fox.
Ray Mattholie is MYR’s international Chairman. After a long association with MYR as risk manager of Jardine Matheson, Ray joined MYR in 2007. With 40 years experience in risk management in Europe, Asia and North America, and many years as Risk Manager of British Telecom, Ray brings a wealth of expertise and experience to MYR in insurance and general risk management.
David Nixon operates as MYR’s Australian chairman and is an experienced executive in the worldwide mining and minerals industry, employed as a non-executive director in three ASX-listed companies. A founder of Signet Engineering in 1990, David had a number of senior and executive roles in Signet and in Fluor Australia following the acquisition of Signet in 1996. At MYR, David is responsible for guiding service delivery standards and business development in Australia.
Nick de Bueger holds a Bachelor of Science and has extensive experience in coordinating enterprise, project and property risk management programs in Australia and Asia. Nick also has broad experience in facilitating project, operational and corporate risk workshops, in addition to quantitative range analysis, and constructability workshops for a range of companies both locally and internationally. He coordinates the delivery of ERM programs and has acted as risk manager for up to 3 years on ERM programs such as Hactl in Hong Kong.
Cameron Hay After working for maritime lawyers Cocks MacNish in Perth, and the Akasaka International Law Firm in Tokyo, Cameron worked as a journalist for eight years. He has bachelor degrees in of Laws and Jurisprudence, and speaks and reads fluent Japanese. He brings strong analytical and communication skills to his position at MYR, where he has focused on high-level risk reviews, business continuity management, strategic planning workshops, supply chain risk management and management system overviews. His recent clients include Ocean Park Corporation, Hongkong Land, BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, BP Australia, Calibre Projects, Kagara Ltd, Hactl, the West Australian Cricket Association and Hactl.
Tarique MacDonald-Razvi joined MYR in 2011. Tarique was BHPBIO’s global risk manager from 2003 to 2011. Prior to joining BHPBIO he worked for 9 years in business management at Woodside Petroleum. He is the co-founder and current chair/administrator of the Australian Corporate Risk Leadership Group comprising representatives from over 15 corporate firms. Tarique has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, a Post Graduate Diploma in Risk.
Kelly Chesters joined MYR in 2007. She has facilitated a range of risk workshops including business and project-wide risk and opportunity reviews and HSEC in design, including constructability and HAZOP reviews. Kelly is responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of ERM and PSRM programs, and has a broad understanding of their practical application and integration in a variety of businesses. Kelly was recently certified as a lead auditor of OHS management systems and is currently completing a Masters of Business Administration.
Chitra Suppiah Joined MYR in 2011. She previously worked for Deloittes as a Technology Integration Consultant, on projects such as Rio Tinto Iron Ores Global Marketing System. Chitra also has a Bachelor of Science and Diploma in Information Technology.
